AYURVEDA APPROACH TO PAIN MANAGEMENT
SNEHAN (OILING OF THE BODY): Lubrication of the body with medicated oil .Massage with warm medicated oil called ABHYANGA ,HELP MUCSLE RELAXATION AND reduce joint, tendon and muscle pain.
MASSAGE: Medicated warm oil massage help relax muscle and joins and help reduce pain. It increases circulation and release pain reducing chemicals in the body.
PIZHICHIL: Warm medicated oils are poured to body followed by massage
KIZHI: One of the maintreatment for pain, medicated herbal powders, and herbs are made a bolus and dipped in warmoiland massage.
Balanced exercises: Light exercises under the supervision of trained person help reduce chronicpain
PAIN YOGA: There are yoga therapy poses which reduce pain,regular training of such yoga reduces pain.
BALANCED DIET: It is proved that some spices used internally and externally reduce pain. Ginger, garlic, mint, thyme ,and pepper used as oil externally by massage reduce pain. People with chronic pain have to take specialdiet to avoid constipation. Avoid high fat, fried and fast foods.
AROMA THERAPY: Massage with aromatic oils like, ROSEMARY, THYME, GINGER, EUCALYPTUS AND MINT increses the local temperature of body and relax muscle. PEPPERMINT OIL, MYRTLE OIL also have pain killing properties. Aroma oils can be used in massage, diffuser, and in hot bath. This is one of the main treatment for JOINT PAIN.
